Mar. 4, 2010 (China Knowledge) - Nepal has seen growing number of Chinese tourists, especially at the time when the country has launched a national campaign to attract more tourists at national and international levels, the official Xinhua News Agency reported.
Figures from Nepal's Immigration Office at Tribhuvan International Airport showed that Chinese tourist arrivals surged by 242.5% year on year to 4,110 in February.
In January, the number was only 1,783, according to TIA.
The main contributor to the growth in tourist arrivals is that there are more flights connecting various Chinese cities with Nepali capital Kathmandu, according to the report.
An official with Nepal Tourism Board was cited as saying that the number of Chinese tourists will continue to rise, and the soaring number of Chinese tourists has marked Nepal's projection targeting China and India as core markets.
