Feb. 10, 2010 (China Knowledge) - Taiwan-based Asustek Computer Inc, a leading provider of computers, communications and consumer electronics, expects its first-quarter shipment of PC notebook and low-cost Eee PC smartbook to drop 10% and 30%, respectively, from the previous quarter, sources reported.
The company's motherboard shipment is expected to rise 5% to 10% in the first quarter, which is commonly the off season for high-tech companies, it said in a statement.
In the first quarter, Asustek's overall business will expand, and its market share will rise, too.
The company said its motherboard shipment was 5.3 million units in the fourth quarter. Its notebook and Eee PC shipment were 2.7 million and 1.8 million units, respectively.
Asustek said its first-quarter unaudited net profit was NT$5.66 billion, compared with a net loss of NT$2.8 billion a year ago.
