Nov. 17, 2009 (China Knowledge) - Cargo volume at Hong Kong International Airport in October grew 1.3% year on year, reflecting the first rise in 14 months, the Airport Authority Hong Kong said on Sunday, sources reported.
The airport handled 324,000 tons of cargo last month, said the authority in a statement.
In the first ten months of this year, the airport's cargo traffic fell 13.4% year on year to 2.7 million tons.
In October, the airport handled 3.9 million passengers, 3.7% fewer than in the same period of last year. The airport's passenger volume in the first ten months was 38.2 million, 6.3% less than in the corresponding period of last year.
Airport Authority Hong Kong, which is fully owned by the Hong Kong government, holds a 35% stake in Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport and has a joint venture with the government of Zhuhai that runs Zhuhai International Airport.
