Oct. 30, 2009 (China Knowledge) - Chinese stocks ended higher in the morning trading session on Friday, boosted by the ChiNext stocks.
The Shanghai Composite Index, which covers both A shares and B shares on the Shanghai Stock Exchange, increased 2.13% or 62.99 points to close at 3,023.46 points in the morning session.
The Shenzhen Component Index on the smaller Shenzhen Stock Exchange rose 2.37% or 288.92 points to stand at 12,482.08 points.
ChiNext stocks ended higher. Beijing Ultrapower Software<300002>, jumped to RMB 140 on the morning of its first trading day, 141.55% higher than its IPO price. Tianjin Chase Sun Pharmaceutical Co Ltd<300026> skyrocketed 141% to close at RMB 144.6.
Energy stocks were gainers. Sichuan Datong Gas Development Co Ltd<000593> surged by the daily limit of 9.97% to RMB 8.05.
Bank stocks were among winners as they posted sound net profit in quarterly results. Industrial and Commercial Bank of China<601398><1398>, the world's largest lender by market value, grew 2.02% to RMB 5.05. China Merchants Bank<600036><3968> swelled 4.92% to RMB 17.9.
The agricultural sector performed well. Hunan Jinjian Cereals Industry Co Ltd<600127> spiked the daily maximum of 10.02% to RMB 7.14.
