Jan. 5, 2009 (China Knowledge) - China Technology Development Group Corp (CTDC)<CTDC>, a provider of clean and renewable energy products and solutions in China focusing on amorphous silicon (a-Si) thin film technology, announced on its website that the company along with the privately-owned Qinghai New Energy Group Co Ltd (QNE) had signed a contract with the local government of Qinghai Haixi Mongolian-Tibetan Autonomous Region to build a 30MW on-grid solar power station in Qaidam Basin of northwestern China.
Under the terms of the agreement, CTDC and QNE will be in charge of the solar power station's design, constructions and management, while the local government of Haixi Region will provide land for the power plant and help support CTDC and QNE obtain various local and central government-backed incentives.
With an initial investment of US$150 million, the project, which scheduled to start construction this year, is designed with a capacity of 1 gigawatt of electricity by integrating thin-film and traditional silicon-based technologies.
As the first solar power station of its kind in China, the Qaidam solar power station will be the largest on-grid solar power station in China upon completion.
