May. 24, 2012 (China Knowledge) - Chinese telecom operators saw their revenue from core business grow 10.1% YoY to RMB 339.05 billion in the first four months of this year, according to the latest statistics released by the
Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
The industry's total business volume was RMB 419.06 billion during the period from January to April, up 14.8% YoY, said the
ministry.
Revenue from mobile telecom business increased 12.9% YoY to RMB 246.13 billion in the first four months, accounting for 72.59% of the total core business revenue. The ratio was 70.75% in the same period of 2011.
Income from fixed-line telecom business rose 3.1% from a year earlier to RMB 92.92 billion, accounting for 27.41% of the total core business revenue, compared with a ratio of 29.25% in the corresponding period of 2011.
The telecom industry saw its core business revenue increase 8.9% in East China, 11.5% in Central China and 13.5% in West China respectively.
The top five provinces that booked the highest telecom business revenue were
Guangdong Province,
Jiangsu Province,
Zhejiang Province,
Shandong Province and
Sichuan Province, in which their revenues were RMB 48.1 billion, RMB 27.5 billion, RMB 24.6 billion, RMB 20.2 billion and RMB 16.9 billion in the first four months, respectively.
