Shanghai VW, a 50:50 joint venture between
Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp and Volkswagen.
This is a new milestone for the JV after it had sold over 500,000 Skodas as of Jun. 18, 2011.
Three kinds of Skoda models, comprising the Fabia subcompact, Octavia compact and Superb midsize segments, are being sold in China.
Since 2007, cumulative sales of Octavia have exceeded 450,000 units, while sales of Fabia and Superb totaled around 130,000 and 110,000 units, respectively.
Shanghai VW also plans to introduce new auto models, including Octavia GreenLine, the sporty Octavia RS and the Fabia Scout compact SUV, to satisfy more specific consumer demands, said a person familiar with the matter.
