Feb. 3, 2010 (China Knowledge) - Jiangsu Province, which has the largest economy in the Yangtze River Delta, invested a record RMB 88.2 billion in transportation infrastructure last year, 14.6% more year on year, sources reported.
Investments in roads, railways, waterways and airports were RMB 34.8 billion, RMB 38.5 billion, RMB 13.36 billion and RMB 1.55 billion, respectively. Development of railways and airports is accelerating.
Shi Heping, vice governor of Jiangsu, said that while highways in the province are developing rapidly, other key projects, such as the Taizhou Yangtze River Bridge, the high-speed railway linking Beijing and Shanghai and airports projects in Nanjing, Xuzhou, Wuxi and Nantong, are also going well.
Reportedly, Jiangsu will spend RMB 90.87 billion on transportation infrastructure this year. It will focus on railways, waterways and airports.
