Jan. 29, 2013 (China Knowledge) - BAIC Motor Electric Vehicle Co Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Beijing Automotive Industry Holdings Corp, has recently set up a laboratory with Infineon Technologies Asia Pacific Pte Ltd, one of the world's leading semiconductor manufacturers.
The associated laboratory will strengthen both companies' innovation, where Infineon Technologies will provide microchip solution, underlying software as well as development tool for BAIC Motor Electric Vehicle to assist its new energy vehicle development.
As the first independent large new energy automobile enterprise founded by China's auto group, BAIC Motor Electric Vehicle Co Ltd was officially launched in
Beijing E-Town, a
triple A rated industrial park, in November 2009. At Dec 20, 2010, BAIC Motor Electric Vehicle produced the first batch of 30 high-end pure electric passenger cars which were based on the technology of Saab.
With a planning area of 11 sq km,
Beijing E-Town's new energy auto industry is built in Caiyu New Energy Automobile Industrial Park. The park will form a complete new energy auto industry chain including vehicle assembly, electronic control and auto parts production with annual output value of over RMB 100 billion.
As at the end of 2012, one auto assembler, ten auto parts manufacturers and an auto technical school had settled in the park. These include Beijing Pride Power System Technology Ltd, SinoEV Tech Co Ltd and IAT Automobile Technology Co Ltd.
Last year, the park realized RMB 3.52 billion in gross industry output, up 56% YoY, while its total revenue increased 37% from a year earlier to RMB 3.23 billion.
Over the past three years, BAIC Motor Electric Vehicle had introduced several electric passenger cars such as C30DB, M30RB and Q60FB. The company’s services also include battery supply, maintenance and after-sales service. In 2012 it produced 1,200 units of new energy vehicles, and aims to realize 3,000 to 5,000 units in 2013 with sales revenue of RMB 1 billion.
Beijing E-Town aims to build China's first new energy automotive technology innovation and R&D center as well as hi-tech auto manufacturing. It is expected that Caiyu New Energy Automobile Industrial Park to realize RMB 30 billion in output value by the end of 2015.
