 Search News  Or introduces China's first unmanned sorting center

Aug 7, 2017 (China Knowledge) –, China's second largest e-commerce platform, introduced China's first unmanned sorting center in Kunshan city of Jiangsu province on Aug 01, this is also the world's first unmanned sorting center officially launched and successfully operated.


Through the smart control system, the center can realize automatic operation in the whole process from package to loading; currently, its sorting ability has reached 9,000 parcels per hour which improve efficiency significantly.


In future JD will continue to increase investment in technological innovation so as to provide intelligent supply chain solution with high efficiency and low costs for the whole society, said person-in-charge at JD logistics.


Back in late 2015 the ecommerce giant began its research on drone; and by 2016, the drones passed vigorous testing under various weather and complex delivery conditions. Meanwhile it has been developing unmanned cars since 2016 with its first successful test drive last November. This year JD’s unmanned cars will realize an important milestone as it takes on delivery services across China.


Last month, JD activated unmanned logistic system at its HQ in Beijing E-Town, a triple-A rated industrial park where it is constructing Beijing's Central E-commerce District (CED) that aims to realize completely unmanned operation by using AI management and robots before next year's Single's Day sales festival.


Artificial intelligence is driving the Fourth Retail Revolution and JD has achieved in costs operation efficiency with technology and management. The next step, the e-commerce giant will rely on AI to improve operational efficiency, said Richard Liu, founder and CEO of JD.
