Dec 25, 2015 (China Knowledge) - China's total wholesale sales of passenger cars (sedans, MPV and SUV) saw a stronger-than-expected increase of 22.2% year on year to 2.14 million units last month, according to statistics released by the National Passenger Car Information Exchange Association.
During Jan-Nov period, the country's passenger car (sedans, MPV and SUV) wholesales totaled 16.52 million units, reflecting an increase of 7.9% year on year.
In contrast, China's total retail sales of passenger cars (sedans, MPV and SUV) rose 18.2% to 1,95 million units year on year in Nov. From Jan to Nov, its total retail sales went up 9.7% to 15.82 million units compared with the same period of last year.
In terms of market segments, SUV sales maintained a robust momentum, with retail sales and wholesale sales rising 70% and 62.2% year on year, respectively.
Shanghai General Motors, ranked first in the top ten auto makers list released by the National Passenger Car Information Exchange Association, with sales of 160,785 units in Nov this year, followed by 156,240 units of Shanghai Volkswagen Automotive Company, 152,349 units of FAW Volkswagen, 122,770 units of SGMW and 100,069 units of Beijing Hyundai.
