China Knowledge bond market daily summary

May 18, 2017 (China Knowledge) - On May 17, the settlement of cash bonds down 1.95% from its previous trading day to RMB 214.20 billion and the settlement of bond lending up 10.23% to RMB 4.57 billion, according to China Central Depository & Clearing Co., Ltd.


The benchmark weighted-average overnight repo rate down 0.2 bp to 2.752%, 7-day repo rate down 2.6 bps to 3.085%, and the 14-day repo up 9.6 bps to 3.690%. The overnight Shanghai Interbank Offered Rate (SHIBOR) up 0.65 bp to 2.7525%, and the 7-day SHIBOR down 0.07 bp to 2.8820%.


The yield on 1Y Treasury bonds down 0.27 bp to 3.49% while that on 3Y up 7.40 bps to 3.68%. The yield on 7Y and 10Y treasury bonds up 6.98 bps and 0.50 bp to 3.72%and 3.63%, respectively. The yield on 5Y up 3.45 bps to 3.68%.


On the policy bank bonds front, the yield on 1Y policy bank bonds (CDB) down 0.19 bp to 4.16%. The yield on 5Y down 1.97 bps to 4.34%, and the yield curve (10Y) down 0.87 bp to 4.32%.


In addition, the yields on 1Y policy bank bonds (Exim Bank) up 3.73 bps to 4.12%, while the yields on 5Y and 10Y reached 4.48% and 4.53%, respectively.


The yield on 1Y corporate bonds (AAA-rated) reached 4.59%, while that on the 10Y debenture was 4.99%.


Bond code 170210, 170401 and 090208 were the top three actively traded bonds, with a trading volume of RMB 20.30 billion, RMB 11.55 billion and RMB 5.73 billion, respectively.    


The top three performers by debt type were Policy Financial Bond, CDs and Treasury Bond with trading volume of RMB 146.25 billion, RMB 101.18 billion and RMB 41.13 billion, representing 40.61%, 28.10% and 11.42% of the total cash bond trading volume, respectively.
