China's soybean imports up 14.41% in 2015

Jan 13, 2015 (China Knowledge) – China, the world's largest soybean importer, saw its soybean import volume rise 14.41% to 81.69 million tons in 2015, as compared with 71.40 million tons it realized in 2014, according to the latest statistics released by the General Administration of Customs.

The import value for the Jan-Dec period totaled RMB 215.7 billion, down 14.6% year on year.

Meanwhile, China's soybean import volume in Dec amounted to 9.12 million tons and the import value hit RMB 22.83 billion.

Statistics from the GAC also showed that China imported 6.76 million tons of edible vegetable oil in the reporting period, representing a 4% increase over the year earlier.
