Oct 21, 2015 (China Knowledge) – Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba has named its office in London as a "strategy hub" for Alibaba's business in Europe to push forward its globalization strategy.
The Chinese internet mogul has planned to set up offices in Italy, France, Germany and other European countries, as it looks to expand its presence on the continent.
According to an official statement made by Alibaba, Amee Chande is appointed as the managing director of Alibaba Group in the UK, and Rodrigo Cipriani Foresio will serve as the group's director in Italy.
“We are putting in place a strong team of experts in our Italian and U.K. offices that will help European brands, retailers and government partners understand the opportunities in China and work directly with them in local language, in-country, to get their products into the hands of Chinese consumers,” Michale Evans, president of Alibaba Group, said in a press release on Tuesday.
The group, aiming to become the gateway for European brands and small and medium-sized companies to enter the Chinese market, will continue to join hands with these firms to help them reach more Chinese consumers.
