China's natural gas consumption up 13% in 2012

Jan. 29, 2013 (China Knowledge) - China saw its consumption of natural gas rise 13% YoY to 147.1 billion cubic meters in 2012, said the National Development and Reform Commission.

Last year, the country produced 107.7 billion cu m of natural gas, 6.5% more than it realized in the previous year.

In 2012, China saw its natural gas imports surge 31.1% from a year earlier to 42.5 billion cu m, which accounted for 29% of the country's total consumption.

The NDRC said in another statement on its website that the country's consumption of refined oil products grew 3.3% YoY to 250.8 million metric tons last year.
