Sep 27, 2017 (China Knowledge) – In recent years China has shifted from its focus from robot application to innovation with a rapid growth in robot sales of 35% annually. Last year its production of industrial robot reached 72,000 units, accounting for a quarter of global sales, and ranked among the world's top in voice and image recognition. Major breakthroughs have been made in the R&D and major key components for making robots for numerous applications.
The robotic industry in Beijing is in the critical period to speed up development as featured at the 2017 World Robot Conference held in Beijing E-Town, a triple-A rated industrial park and China’s technology and innovation center. The event announced Beijing's strategic roadmap to establish the capital to become a global innovation center and R&D hub for the rebotic industry by 2025 according to the show organizer's director Zhang Boxu.
The municipal government of Beijing has mapped up the blueprint for the industry and is giving priority to the application of industrial robot and those supporting the R&D in robotic industry.
According to the roadmap, the total revenue of robotic industry in Beijing is expected to reach between 12 – 15 billion RMB by 2020, with 10 major players and 10 R&D headquarters in 2025. A platform coordinating and organizing such innovation and application of these AI, robotic manufacturers and related hi-tech industries will also be put in place by the government.
As the largest industrial park home to cutting-edge IT and internet-based technology clusters, Beijing E-Town has unique advantage in the development of robotic technology. Its demonstration zone of “Made in China 2025” has so far attracted HIT Robot Group, Yaskawa Shougang Robot Co., Ltd and other leading robotic related enterprises in and outside of China. It is estimated that about 100 robot enterprises have set up in Beijing E-Town, with a total output value of RMB 3 billion.
