Introduction
Shanghai Pudong Airport Industrial Zone (Shanghai Pudong Airport IZ) comprises the former Pudong Airport Town Linkong Industrial Park, Pudong Chuansha Town Industrial Zone, Shanghai Zhuqiao Aviation Port Industrial Park and Laogang Chemical Industry Park. The total area of the four zones is 8 sq km.

The zone is adjacent to Shanghai Pudong International Airport. In 2012, the passenger throughput stood at 44.88 million, ranked third in mainland China after Beijing Capital International Airport and Guangzhou Baiyun Airport. It handled more than 2.94 million tons of cargo in 2012, ranking first in the mainland. The zone is close to Shanghai Port, the largest port in China in terms of container throughput. The railway and highway networks in Shanghai connect the zone with major domestic cities. The Beijing-Shanghai Railway, the Shanghai-Wuhan Railway, the Shanghai-Hangzhou Expressway and the Shanghai- Nanjing Expressway all run through Shanghai.

Investment Climate
Major industries in the Shanghai Pudong Airport IZ are electronics, machinery and aviationrelated industries. The zone has attracted investment from well-known companies that include China Eastern, Boeing, HI-P, and Shanghai Orion Dongbang Paint.

China Eastern Airlines, a major airline in the country, has two units in the zone: Shanghai Eastern Meixin Food and Shanghai Eastern Yiren Food. The units supply food and beverages for China Eastern’s flights.

Boeing, the giant U.S.-based airplane firm, invested more than US$100 million to set up a joint venture called Boeing Shanghai Aviation Services with Shanghai Airport Group. The venture offers modification, maintenance, repair and overhaul solutions for Boeing 737 planes.

In 2012, the park’s gross industrial output value rose 20.76% year on year to RMB 2.56 billion.
