Shanghai Jiading Automobile Industrial Zone (Shanghai Jiading AIZ), located in Jiading District in the northwestern part of Shanghai, was approved as a municipallevel development zone by the municipal government of Shanghai in 2006. Covering an area of 100 sq km, Shanghai Jiading AIZ consists of Shanghai International Automobile City, Automotive Components Supporting Park (Shanghai ACSP), Jiading Huangdu Industrial Zone (Jiading Huangdu IZ) and Jiading Nanxiang High-tech Park (Jiading Nanxiang HTP).

Shanghai International ACSP, formerly the Volkswagen Industrial Park, was built in the southern part of Shanghai in 1998. Jiading Huangdu IZ is situated near the Jiading- Tianjin Highway, State Highway 315 and the Shanghai-Nanjing Expressway. Shanghai Tongji University borders the zone in the west. The Jiading Nanxiang HP is situated in the northwestern part of Shanghai, 18 km from Shanghai People’s Square.

Shanghai Jiading AIZ is 22 km from Shanghai Hongqiao Airport and 60 km from Shanghai Pudong International Airport. Shanghai Port, the largest port in China in terms of container throughput in 2013, is 25 km away.

Investment Climate
Shanghai ACSP, the main part of Shanghai Jiading AIZ, encourages investment in auto parts and automobile-related industries. Firms in the park are involved in making car doors, chassis systems, security systems and interior decoration systems, among other things.

In 2013, Shanghai International Automobile City generated RMB 251.83 billion in gross industrial output, reflecting a year on year increae of 19.6%. By the end of 2013, 14 Fortune 500 enterprises had commenced operation in the park. Major investors in this zone include Volkswagen, Shanghai Delphi Parker Electric, Shanghai Brose Automotive Components, Shanghai TRW Automotive Components and Fuyao Group (Shanghai) Automobile Glass. Volkswagen invested EUR 240 million in an engine plant in 2003. The park is currently an important base for the auto parts industry in China.

Jiading Huangdu IZ encourages investment in auto parts, automobile logistics, household electrical appliances and mechanical processing, while Jiading Nanxiang HTP encourages investment in electronics, Information Technology, advanced electrical machinery, elevators and metalwork manufacturing.
