Shanghai Sheshan National Holiday Resort (Shanghai Sheshan NHR) is located in Songjiang District, in the southwestern part of Shanghai. Songjiang is the oldest part of Shanghai, which is an economic and financial hub in mainland China. There are 12 hills in Sheshan, an area of Shanghai that is famous for its natural scenery. In 1995, Shanghai Sheshan NHR was approved by the State Council to be a state-level development zone. It covers an area of 64.08 sq km.

Situated 30 km from the city center, the resort is connected with the Shanghai-Nanjing Expressway and the Shanghai-Hangzhou Expressway. The Tongjiang-Sanya Highway and State Highway 318, which runs from Shanghai to Tibet, are both close to the resort. Shanghai Pudong International Airport and Shanghai Hongqiao Airport are within half an hour's drive.

Investment Climate
Shanghai Sheshan is home to Sheshan National Forest Park, Shanghai Basilica, which is also called the Basilica of Our Lady of She Shan, the Sheshan Earthquake Museum, the Huzhu Pogoda, which is the oldest leaning tower in the world, and the West Sheshan Tea Park. There are over 100 species of animals and over 200 species of plants living on the grounds of the resort.

The best time to visit the resort is during the spring and autumn seasons, when the weather is neither too cold nor too hot.

The resort mainly encourages investment in leisure, entertainment, tourism and related industries. It has attracted Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Sofitel and Happy Valley as investors. Starwood Hotels & Resorts in 2005 opened Le Meridien Sheshan Shanghai, which can accommodate up to 1,800 guests.

Shanghai is one of the top tourism destinations in China. In 2013, over 259.9 million domestic tourists and 7.57 million foreign tourists visited Shanghai, generating tourism revenue of RMB 296.8 billion from domestic tourism and over US$5.34 billion from international tourism.
