Mr Lee Khoon Choy's art exhibition entitled Impressions of the World with My Brush and the launch of the homonymous art book as well as his travel anthology – Passage through China – This Land So Rich in Beauty – were held at the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Hall from May 5 to May 7, 2008.
The opening ceremony of the exhibition brought together many parties with diverse backgrounds and expertise, including CPPCC leaders, ambassadors and counselors from Singapore and (… countries) in China, Chairman of China-Singapore Friendship Association Mr Xu Kongrang, as well as delegates from the fields of painting and calligraphy, media, and business.
Mr Lee Khoon Choy, one of the founding fathers of the Republic of Singapore, is an accomplished politician and diplomat. As a descendant of Chinese immigrants in Southeast Asia, Mr Lee has deep affection for Chinese culture. Embraced with such enthusiasm, he is very proficient in the art of painting and playing Guzheng, a traditional Chinese musical instrument.
The event has received great support from the Embassy of Singapore in China and the China Painting and Calligraphy Suffix International Association. Jointly held by China Knowledge Holdings (Singapore) and the Social Workers' Association of the Ministry of Civil Affairs, China, the event aims at promoting cultural communications between the two countries.
Over 80 paintings of Mr Lee were exhibited, including his collaboration with well-known Chinese artists such as Liu Haisu, Huang Zhou, Chang Shuhong, Dong Shouping, Li Xiongcai, and Sun Ying.
Meanwhile, Mr Lee's homonymous art book – Impressions of the World with My Brush, published by China Knowledge Holdings, was also unveiled at the opening ceremony of the exhibition. China Knowledge Holdings, a Singapore-based provider of business solutions and products on China, will distribute the art book through international book exhibitions and a global network of premier distributors in more than 40 countries and regions.
